Answer: x = 13/3 or  x = 4.33333....

Solution: ⅜x -1 +1 = ⅝ + 1

Simplify: ⅜x = 13/8

Multiply both sides by eight:  8 x ⅜x =  133 x 8 divided by 8

Simplify:  3x = 13

Divide both sides by three: 3x/3 = 13/3

Simplify:  x = 13/3
